A Tribute

Wife, Mother, Nanna, Artist

“Life isn’t simple” Yvonne often said, and yet she wanted her passing to be as “simple as
possible.”
We honor a complex person who was many things to many peopl
e. In her 68 years of aliveness,
she would admit often that she felt she had made mistakes but had done her best to correct and
learn from them.

Her passions ran high, from her “grandbabies” and their family, to her art (sculptured cloth dolls
before her RA kicked in), to even her love for slot machines and casino’s, to those she called
friends who she was fiercely loyal to. At times self-critical, and driven to do her best, she tried to
exhibit what she called a “moral code” in what she chose to do in life. “It’s the principle” was a
phrase used commonly when she was upset at something. She presented tough and hard at
times, but those who knew her never doubted that she had a big giving and loving heart.

With Yvonne’s passing, there is a sense of loss for many, yet memories (and perhaps pictures)
will hopefully aide in keeping her with us in some meaningful way.

Although the loss of my mother will be felt for a long time, I know she would want us all to continue to live happy lives, keep moving forward and to keep laughing.  She loved you all so very much and I just want to thank you all for loving her back. The last couple of months, mom wanted to do something. She wanted to keep fighting, keep living. To feel useful . She started talking about wanting to volunteer or get a job. The last thing I remember her saying is she should volunteer at the hospice hospital. She said " these dying people need someone to talk to". That was the woman we all knew and loved. If you want to  honor her memory please donate to your local hospice. - Shanna
